If his intention is to get to know you more or help you, isn't it a good thing. You want a manager who knows what you are capable of and be someone you can talk to.
Work on proving your worth to him and ask yourself are there anything you could do better to exceed his expectations.
There are two types of manager that like to micromanage. #1 those who wants to take credits #2 those who are a little insecure and lack confidence in someones ability but is overall responsible which isn't really a bad thing
