It is case by case. If the company does not treat the employees like family members, how can employee treat the company like family! Some companies' top management treat employees as disposable assets, in return, they do not deserve loyalty from employees.
Using my previous employer as an example, they are getting rid of people who are 50+. So if employees are smart enough and competent enough, they should dump the company ASAP. Most companies have policy to require 15+ years service to qualify retiree benefits.
