I talked to the BG company (hireright.com), they indicated they mainly wanted to ensure I was employed in the time frame I put in my application form. It seems they do not pay much attention to title, or salary. But since I told them NOT to contact my current employer, they said the only way to verify is to get my latest pay stub in which they can easily see salary. The BG company will not accept any other document such as work badge as a employment proof.
I think most, if not all, people will NOT let BG company to contact their current company - in that case, they have to provide paystub.
But BG company told me even we chose "Yes" to question of "can they contact your current company", they would still prefer NOT to contact current company and instead, ask for your paystub.
