How to explain gap?

‘09年laid off。進修了1-2年。病了1年。今年開始找。

很多recuiters and hiring managers 聽說我進修了，今年開始找，就不再這問題上糾纏。

但有的人一年一年地追問what have you been doing in '09, '10 '11 '12？怎麽回答？
