agree. psychology courses and case studies at college are fun. but in real life, you will come across the time when you find that you can't solve all your clients' problems, for various reasons, (clients not working hard toward getting better, or the problems are simply too complex)... you will feel helpless.
in today's American society, there are many problems, single Mom w/kids, poverty, divorce, domestic violence, health issues, substance abuse, unemployment, societal racial/socio-economical gap... and on and on..
sometimes it is not you who can change all those, sometimes the smartest psycholgoist can not solve those problems.. that is the part you have to keep in mind..
