stay observative on that guy for a while. I notice that you were even not 100% sure about his words by saying "something like 'you are old'". Many times we could jump the gun because we miss the subtle context easily as a non-native speaker. Unless you are 100% sure being offended by someone, be cautious about getting too serious because you might end up excluding yourself from the rest of the team. Yes, there are bad co-workers and ass-hole bosses, and we don't want to being taken advantage by them. And there are more than plenty of posts about recognizing possible discrimination against our chinese. But in the mean time, make sure you know the person/situation well enough to draw the conclusion. Self-victimization could do more damage than being soft in workplace.
This might help or hurt depending on if he truly meant to joke.
