Just want to share some thoughts
1. You don’t have to tell everything about yourself, nor do you have to tell the truth about everything of yourself, but you need to be politically correct.
2. There are many ways of looking at things/situations from different perspective. For example, a cup is half-filled with water. You can either say that this cup is half-empty (pessimistic) or is half-full (optimistic). Choose one in your favour.
3. Put yourself in hiring manager’s shoes. Your perspective manager will use this chance to better understand you. Therefore, you should also use this opportunity to know more about your perspective manager. They like to talk about themselves and their business that they are proud of. If you think reversely, that is why people don’t say anything negative about their former employers.
4. Set your goal/objective, play strategically. If you find yourself in an odd situation, don’t try to hide. Instead, shift the attention/focus to favour your skill/experience, and stay in the high road.
In Chinese, we say “avoid the heaviest, pick the lightest”
5. No employer is willing to spend time and money on training, although they promise they will provide training for new employers.
