In general, Hyperion consists of three main modules: Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Financial Managemt(HFM) and Financial Report(FR)/Web Analysis(WA)
Planning includes: (General)Hyperion Planning. Workforce planning, Capital Expense Planning, Profibility/Cost Management.Strategic Planning. (General) Planning is mainly for financial planning or sales revenue planning.
HFM covers consolidation/closing.
FR is formated reporting tool to gernerated matrix layout report. WA is an ad hoc repoting tool.
All the modules above are accessible through a web portal called Workspace.
In a ddition to modules above, there are other admin/architecting tools such as Shared Services for security. EPM Architect for application set up and maintenance. Calclation Manager for business rule development.
The backend database for Planning is OLAP server called Es*****ase.
HFM does not use es*****ase as backend database.
Hyperion is a metadata driven application. All structural information is maintained in metadata repositories in relational database (in Oracle, SAL Server or DB2).
