Why you should never bring your company smart phone with you whe

A friend of a friend of a friend of mine was let go. It was not because he did not answer business calls on the day when he said he would work from home. He did exactly as good worker should, answering as many calls from office on the day he flew out to a competitor’s campus for a job interview. The lesson is that not only all your calls and emails generated on company issued equipments are regarded as the property of the company, so that they can record, listen in, capture, monitor, undelete (even if you think you click the delete button) and even pin point the location of message sent out. So your whereabouts are easily detected by your phones GPS, and by the IP address where you log in to your corporate intranet to reply business emails. Don’t claim to work from home if you really are not. The “OFF” button on these gadgets never works, just like the temperature dial on your office wall never would. They are always “ON” unless the battery is dead. If you really need to see your future boss or have a road race, leave the tracking equipments at home and use your earned days off instead, period.
