You need to work for an active CPA. Many CPA's are not active if they work at Corporate Finance not Accounting area. To maintain the active CPA status, you need to take classes and audit hours each year. Different states may have different rules. You'd better check. I would assume most CPA's at big 4's are active CPA's.
