I suggest you to get opinions on your career selection from the people in mechanical fields. There are a lot career experts and helpful people in this website. But most of them are in IT or accounting industry. Frankly to say, some suggestions are misleading.
Mechanical career in US is not short of resource, especially for the companies which already set up design centers in Asia. The people who are in mechanical field are smart and handy, most of them are males. As a female and Asian engineer, you are not in a good position, especially if you don't have US experience and degree.
