You might discuss the project pathforward plan with him, such as
1) break down your project couple of pieces
2) clarify who owns which sub-tasks,
3) who are their resources to seek help
4) the delivery timeline
Have his endorsement, cc it to your boss, and
then you monitor and check the project progress with them.
