Never admit wrong doing. That is American way.

Admit wrong doing and then wish for symphathy and understaning. that is Chinese way.

Just tell them that recently things have been slow and you have not been doing any things specific. You have just been doing some cleaning up, documenting, research type of work. No big deal. How much are they paying you? $15 a hour? I makl a lot more than that and I do not work 100% of the time.
