Speak out is always not a bad idea when you think you are very marketable. If your boss wants you to stay, he will pay you. If not, you will notice what he thinks, time to move on. I just asked for a bonus, I got it. I actually thought if he didn't give me the money, I will go away. Now since he gives me the money, I will stay. If he lays me off, at least, I get the money.
