Remember one of my posts before about "next man will be better?"
I read the entire book on the airplane. It is all about real life example of second marriage or relationship after divorce. The fact is that next man is not necessary better than what you already have in most of cases. Same applies to career, a career change may keep you exciting for couple years, and then you will most likely feel the same way. No matter what you do, a job is a job. With 10 years of experience, I would not switch to a career if you can not leverage your prior experience. I completely understand this feeling. I was so sick of my last job so I switched to a different industry that I am not very familiar with. This will keep me exciting for a while. Accounting and tax fields can be very boring sometimes. I don’t just focus on learning or doing tax work. I also spend time to understand and learn this industry and what is happening beyond my daily job function. In the business world, everything is correlated and you can find a lot of interesting stuff by going beyond your expertise. A broader industry knowledge will build up your career eventually.
