1. try the smaller , local accounting firm. At the local firm, you have more chances to work with partners and meet with clients .
2. take CPA or CFA eaxm, join firms which specilize in TAX, business valuation...
3. try to get financial analyst job instead of bookkeeping, sounds better and might use your phd training..
Be honest, working VISA is problem for you to seek for job, especially at current, there are many candidates to choose from, saying that , don't let it discourage youself , take care of your child, preparing the CPA eaxm, open your social circle, even just through your child's playdates, you will find chances to put you through somewhere
