your boss knows that, too. If the objective is to refresh technology, then it is definitely worth to consider. But if the objective is to solve a business problem, does the new way offer more? I believe your boss is leaning towards checking it out, so, maybe this is your opportunity to volunteer for listing pros and cons or prototyping.
