Even there are only limited companies make software, there are countless companies use software as a tool for their business. Just like the car makers and car users.

You may lose your job if you only know how to design a car.
You will not lose you job if you know how to drive a car.

Stay away with software maker, try to find job in the place as software user, stay away from the hardware, like Driver stuff, you will have a better life, easily find job in any industry, any big city in the world.
