國內的科研機構要用我的軟件,我已開發近十年.怎麽辦?

我讀博時就開發此軟件,我的導師把部分放在學校網站上,國內的一家科研機構要用,和我聯係,我該怎麽辦?我要申請專利嗎?保護我的軟件,我10 年的心血.我不想隨便給別人用.申請專利如何申請?
