Your current description doesn't sounds like it's their problem, rather that you have difficulties keeping this job. Understanding it's hard for you, but to me hands are the most important part of your body and for your work, you should at least let your boss know what happened, he/she could understand you well . It's tough time for everyone, including your boss, don't make his/her life even harder.
