It's all about perceptions

This is the piece of advice my temp boss gave me. Based on his 25-year career life, he said what matters in a coporate America enviroment is not what you do,but what people, especially the managers think you are. If their perception is that you are a kind of person who only sits behind your desk, then you will probably end up sitting behind your desk doing all the work without being appreciated or acknowledged.
