It is purely because of his own overlook/mistake

he named his presentation deck with the other company's name.and job interview in title. the ex employer checked his computer in search for anything that could be used against him (he may have a case in court for wrongful termination) and they found this file in his computer. One more lesson learned: don't put anything that can be used against you in a company computer.
