I think I can understand you very well. I am a moother of two, I know how hard it is to raise two kids, that worth a full time job.
IN the long term, I still suggest that you go back to school for nursing degree, many community colleges (in US, I don;t know Canada) offer RN degree, two years only, plus you have biology background, many courses will be waivered. You can take the course one at a time while your kids are younger, when kids grow up, you will get you RN degree and become a nurse. If you want to go further, transfer your RN to a four year degree and get higher degree.
Trust yourself, your current condition is only temperal, you can change if you want. Right now, your parents are here, this is the best time you go back to school, community college is very cheap, does not cost much.
So, my point is, you can change only if you want to.
Good luck
