Maybe you should polish your communication skill. If you work hard and project is both intelligence and time consuming, you should effectively deliver the message to your boss. If he has insights into your projects, as a leader, he will either provide with you additional resources, i.e. adequate training for you to earn necessary skills to be more productive, thinking of hiring assistants for you, etc. or lower his expectation of timeline and quality of the work. Either way, you won't have to work until mid-night.
Anyway, take it easy! Each and both of you are just human beings.
