I still don't agree

I work over-time too. That is because I am new and I need to pick up speed. I don't think my over-time work should put pressure on anyone. By the way, my boss has a high expectation from my role, and I love my job too. Is it improper that I work longer hours? I am not competing with anyone other than myself, I just want to get familiar with my work as soon as possible. I believe this behavior should be encouraged instead being condemned. I didn't find my colleagues change their behaviors. My Chinese peers don't work over-time either, it is just me, because I am new, and I don't have my family living with me.
