Strategy for negotiating promotion:

1) emphasize your leadership role to excel your project; with feedbacks from your team members. These are very important to stress your leadership/menter/role.

2) emphasize that you want to continue to lead/contribute this project, slipping with a little hint that other projects are very interested in you.

3) check with him what his expectations on you.

4) express your interest of transferring to other teams AFTER you complete this project.

Note that never mess up with your boss since you need his blessings in all sort of things.
pay respect to him.
There are full of incompetent leaders/managers in industries, especially in corporate.


"do you think I should talk to people worked with me from other teams to get their feedback and present it to my boss?" YES, document them well!


"Will it be helpful to bring up the fairness issue in our conversation? No, it will invite his defenses, which may inhibit your goals.

"What would be the best way to negotiate with him?"
