請教改resume上 title的問題

曾在一公司做technical manager，職能類似於senior scientist。後來申請了幾個senior scientist的position, 都沒有結果, 感覺人家對我的technical capability 有疑問。請問我能不能在resume中把以前的title改成senior scientist。Background check會不會有問題。
