1) qianzou was being sarcastic when he wrote: "I, needless to say, consider myself among this group of elites." And you missed the sarcasm.
2) Your well-intended "corrections" were misfires because there was nothing to be corrected to begin with: qianzou's original writing was, dare I say, flawless. Now, allow me to be more specific:
A. Dare: "Dare" (like "need") can be used either as a modal auxiliary ("How dare you do that!") or as a regular verb. Used as a regular verb, “dare” often loses the customary trailing "to.”
B. "In the unfortunate event that..." introduces an unlikely subjective clause, and qianzou omitted the "should" that would normally have preceded "insist."
C. Your suggestion of "[i]n an unfortunate event that" is, simply, not idiomatic.
D. "Long live XXX!" is a variation of "May XXX live long!"
