next time when you have a different idea (especially a better one), talk with him in private first, communicate in such a way that makes him feel he come up with the idea by himself, then see how he reacts. Typically he may embrace his idea (though it was yours actually), then let him run with it and execute the idea with the whole team.

The small loss here is that he gets the "glory", not you. The big win here is overtime you get things done and build something substantial on your resume.

You will shine eventually, and patience is a virtue.
