I doubt your boss would mention that. Since you are assigned to own this project, you need to take the ownership and lead the team, need Sr. Director's help if needs, but ensure he is aware you own the project, your big boss just want to get things done, once you show you take the lead, he will support you, let him deal with Sr.Director.
