1. Work with your boss on how you will lead this project to be executed/finished on time, work out Time & Action calendar, estimated budget, team set up, and support needed etc.
2. Once you finish the above, talk to Sr. Director ask him about his thought without revealing too much about your thoughts, just tell him you need his expertise and support and would appreciate his help if needs, just get his some kind of supportive/positive gesture.
3. When you talk to your big boss, he will be impressed by your thinking through whole process, at the end, mention a little to your big boss you have talked to Sr. Director and gained his support if needs, then the whole project structure is built up, Sr. Director is supporting you and you take the ownership of this project, done deal.
