Surprise, surprise surprise

yesterday I posted that boss gave me a long-term retention incentive. Today I brought this up to thank him. To my big surprise, he has absolutely no clue what I was talking about. He thought I was asking for one and told me that I was not qualified but he would look into this. I was speachless! I dropped it there and then. Doubled-checked the comp sheet.No I am not out of my mind. It is stated clearly about the long-term incentive and the reason for it is an exception based on high performance. Now I am really confused and upset. Obviously someone who I don't even know thinks that I am valuable for the company but certainly not this group, which I worked hard for these years. Isn't that sad?!
