RF has great future, why even bother w/ programming job?

there are a lot of great communication companies require ppl with RF specialty, broadcom, quadcomm, marvell, Atheros, etc, etc, etc. not to mention tons of communication start ups, beceem, siport, telegent system, sibeam. What are you majored in? PA? LNA? system? why even bother in c++ or java.
