1) Data is oftenly collected by using other people's program, so how do you always turst data? In this case, if you turst data, you have to assume the program used is implemented correctly by other people.
2) Let say your program uses other's data, and the output is wrong. Since you always trust data, that means your program is wrong or has bugs. In this case, you will waste time to debug your own program.
Nobody (at least I know) can write bug-free program (maybe except "Hollo world"), so no data is absolutely reliable.
Also, data may be entered into database by people directly, and people make mistakes. Let say you type the same address (20 - 30 characters) into excel spreadsheet 100 times, there is a great chance you type a least one character wrong.
