Yes, and it all boils down to: Use common sense.

Put another way, watered-down lists like the one in question are neither very practical nor meaningful. It is not very practical because some of the items on the list are arguably contradictory to one another; and it is not very meaningful because one can do better, sometimes much better, just by following much simpler rules, like using common sense.
