depend on how powerful is your boss: is it a real boss?
if he just a team leader type of guy, no need to worry too much.
if he single-handed control all your organization (budget, personnel,projects, etc), you have to be worried at the situation.
But if your salary is comparible with other companies at similar position, you might have your leverage when talking with boss about salary.
