no promotion2

I read all the posts, thank you very much for your ideas. I did talk to the upper level manager, turns out my manger is a liar. She recommended 2 people to be promoted, the upper level manager only allowed her to promote one, so she picked another person over me. I am very mad because in many aspects, I am much better than the other person.
But I have questions about the posts. Please help me to understand why they may think I am not a teamplayer?
I got discouraged but I still want to demonstrate I have the capability to do a good job.
