Thank you for the suggestions. I add a few points:
(1) The proposal to him and his boss was constructive from my point of view (my close mate checked it before I sent it). However, he thought that I exposed his management problems (new manager, insecure).
(2) He punished me with much less stock options(as compared with my close mate of the same level). He also gave me hard time during the budget. I regarded them as professional ways of punishing me.I can feel that he keep pushing me around.
(3) The situation is not desperate. I have no intention to leave. I have seen that managers came and gone many times in this company. The top engineers are much more stable. I prefer to wait ...I am playing the game with my influence very carefully...
(4) My intention is to indirectly let him know that it is not easy to get rid of me, and I can do significant damage to him as well. I knew that he did not like me, and there is no problem. We can still work together in a professional way, and avoid lose-lose situation.
