your manager has consulted compnay HR, attorney

and everyone related before he made his decision. it is not his decision, it is company's decision. your manager, your HR, company attorney are in same basket and they are paid by the company. the more you talk to them, the more you disclose your information to them and the less you can get anything.

hope your hubby has a job and can keep the insurance. however, in this recessionm president Obama enacted a special law to significantly lower COBRA insurance payment for long time (8 months? or 12 months. i cannot remember exactly). so even you lose your job, your employer has to pay most of the medical insurance for you under COBRA and you basically still receive similar insurance coverage for months.

no worry. being a woman and/or being pregnancy or being a chinese does not mean you can not be laid off. i understand your frustration. however that is the life. as you as you work for someone, you have such risk.

good luck.
