Internal auditors have to travel some 50%-75%, and the job can be very boring. But after a few years, once you gained thorough understanding of the industry, the business operation, and build up good network within the company, you can request a position in a department that suits your goal. For example, you can apply to work in the Treasury department, or to be a branch controller. The internal audit department usually will give you a good reference if you work well for at least 2 years.
