My 2 cense

Hi John, You know I respect you a lot.
I knew you are busy, I knew you already had great foundmental training many years ago which is much better than I did.
You know and I know we have to fulfill the task our boss assigned to us which is: finish your training.
Why don't we do this:
Why don't you tell me what is the time window which you can schedule for training (that is your choice, don't mess it up please). Then I will see if that fit into my schedule, if it fit, I will let you know, then, you do as you promised, come on schedule, forget other things during the training time. We will make it done.
Remember, this is the schedule you picked up, we will report the ecedule to our boss.
We will not miss it unless there is any reason, we need cc to our boss if you make any change or miss the training.
