me: new hire, has been in company for 3 months. coworker: has been in company for more than 10 years, assigned to be my mentor. he seems to be very proud of himself. in group meeting, he can cut off team leader's talk without hesitation. he often rejected other team member's idea.
After working him for the first month, i was suggested by leader to spend less time with him since leader thought that what the mentor and I did was not the goal the team set. Thereafter, I spend more time working with team leader, but still keep this coworker updated with my progress.
Problem is that this coworker recently became unfriendly by being picky about my english, criticizing my work. Sometimes, I feel really humuliated by him. When I ask him, "if you think this is wrong, could you please let me know the correct way?". He just reponsed with " the answer is very complicated, i am not going to talk about it now".
how to handle this type of coworker? thank you.
