My 2 cents. If you mention your difficulties to the manager directly, it will be hard to predict because it all depends on what kind of person the senior is.
But, if you mention this to the recruiter, i think it will have some positive effect and he/she will certainly push it harder on their regard.
If I were you, I will push for the second interview very hard. The 2nd interview typically means a great chance of offering. You can email the senior saying that you are looking for the second interview and hope he can decide a time (make it sounding like a plan), etc. And ask for recruiter to push on the 2nd interview.
