2 months pay, right? if yes, i suggest u to wait until the end of extended period, you will get 1 month pay plus the opportunity to become a formal employee. And if u pass the review, u will change to a new manager as you said, so that's another plus.
If the layoff package has 6 months pay, then u can consider to be voluntarily laidoff.
