There is a difference between investing and betting. The reason why we entered the depression is that a lot of people are involved in betting in stead of investing their money in the stock market. The game rules were manipulated and perverted to allow cheaters go unnoticed and to attract unsophisticated fools who know nothing about investing. Cupidity and stupidity were intertwined and leveraged to create unbelievable bubbles and the disastrous bursts thereof.

Fortunately, even recession has a silver lining: It helps us realize that the American Dream is based on hard work not false hope; it forces us to spend more time analyzing our career and our financial foundation, it presses us to live and invest within our means; it challenges us to bring out the best of humanity. In a nut shell, the recession, though painful to some, will hopefully erase the cancer cells in the society and put our future on a stronger footing.
