Who is responsible for a security gate if it closes on your car as you’re driving through it? If it hits your car at the mirror, is this considered you crashing into it?
you would need to prove that it was closing far to quickly, and not that you moved to slowly.
a reasonable/average person would need to have the same thing happen to them for you to have any case.
basically, sit there and see if this happens to anyone else. see if the gate moves incredibly quickly, or the delay between when it opened and begins to close again is incredibly small.

If the gate is malfunctioning you should go after the parking lot owner. Then they can go after the gate company. If you didn’t crash into it, that is. If you proceeded through it after waiting your turn and taking the ticket or scanning the barcode or whatever and it still close and damaged the car, that’s the parking lot owner’s fault. Especially if the gate was designed in such a way where it could cause significant damage to vehicles.
