Ultimate Driving Disappointment
My X6 has had FIVE engine malfunctions/reduced power indicators since December 2014. I finally went back to the dealer and picked it up again but am refusing to drive it. The last time it failed I was pulling out into traffic and was almost hit.
My husband is driving it and says that it still randomly will "lurch". It is under an extended warranty but I have no doubts it will fail again. If it does and anything happens to my husband while driving that car I WILL be camping out at BMW headquarters in person. It seems they truly have analyzed the data and know the majority of the owners of these vehicles will not proceed with a lawsuit. I'm still debating how to move forward but BMW has not left me feeling like they care or are concerned about my safety, now my husband's safety, or customer loyalty.
BMW of North America has offered us $3500 towards a brand new one but nothing more. So the $85,000 beauty is now worth, as the dealership offered, $35,000, and dropping every day. I feel trapped. I can't in good conscience sell it on the open market so I'm either going to take a HUGE hit or pray it holds until I can come up with a better alternative.
It is NOT an ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE, it's an ULTIMATE DISAPPOINTMENT. Shame on BMW.

Is this on 6 or 8 cylinder?
Yep that scary all right and makes me think hard to just lease BMW nowadays, many times.

There is customer-care package recall on V8 50i.
dealer should be able to pull the code, and check for everything.
Good luck

I had the customer care package done in late December/early January. I drove it for two days before it failed again. Then back and forth until the latest one for a total of 5 failures. I drove a loaner of different varieties for almost 6 months. I drove my own car about two weeks total out of that time. They looked for issues I was having with it before the first major failure and could never determine what was causing the "lurching/surging". It's had all of the care package pieces done multiple times. It is not safe to drive. It will fail again. So I continue to make payments on a car that is worthless. I'm supposed to trust that it is fixed THIS TIME.

I had the customer care visit and revisit for the first time in June. the car did not lurch-- instead is lost power and acceleration. As far as I know they changed spark plugs and some other items... i trusted they knew what they were doing. i have had not problems before this. 23K miles 2013 x6 50.
