gas padel problem? If so, this is my guess: a few years ago, TOYOTA got a lot of complains for slow acceleration from the Camry owners. The engine power was not there when heavy acceleration was needed. I believe the slow acceleration was originally a TOYOTA safety design for cars equiped with the electronic throatal control, which uses the electronic signal from the gas padel to calculate the correct throatal position. For example, if the engine computer suddenly receive a signal of asking wide open throatal position, which means hevay acceleration, it is hard to tell it is a false signal or not. TOYOTA's solution to this problem was to have the computer ignor such a signal during the process. But a lot of TOYOTA owners complained that the car was lacking horse power when it was needed. A easy fix to this complain without any extra cost is to change the computer program. Those signals are no longer ignored. They are treated as real signals. This change solved the complains but opened the gate for un-intended acceleration. I believe all recalled TOYOTA vehicles are now switched back to the safe mode. That is why your car becomes slow when the power is needed.
