That's exactly what my first point was saying. The system is not nearly as simple as "see the brake, cut the throttle".

Also, your second example describes a system called Hill Hold, or Hill Start Assist, (or whatever MB decided to call it). It's an advanced system using the ESC brake pressure build capability to help the exact off road situation I was describing that required two-footed driving. With this system, you don't need to learn that technique as much. Nice car!
