Take suspension, for example, is an art. Technology can be duplicated/caught up. You can't duplicate art.
That's why Japanese sedans (technology/style copy cats) or even other European sedans haven't been able to match BMW 3 or 5 series in terms of *combination* of ride and handling for many years.
It's not always technology that matters
